Title:  Amtrak E9A 418
Description:  Amtrak E9A 418 was leaving New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal on the northbound PANAMA LIMITED. It had been built as Union Pacific 913, and was the#second-to-last E-unit ever constructed. The unit retained its same Amtrak number for 20 years, and was sold for scrap in June 1981. Notice the OSCITROL light in the nose door.

Description:  Amtrak. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Passenger Station in Duncannon, Pennsylvania, on 28 May 1979. Shown here (L to R) is Amtrak engine #418 and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #418 is an E9 built as Union Pacific "913" in December of 1963, rated at 2,400 horsepower, then acquired by Amtrak and renumbered "418." In this context, they're rockin' 'n' rollin' with a passenger train bound for Altoona and points West. Brad Mann Collection.

Description:  Amtrak E9 418 at about 18th Street, Chicago, Illinois, September 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in December 1963 as UP E9 913 (c/n 28668) on EMD Order 7689, it was the second to last E9A built by EMD. It was sold to Amtrak in September 1972, becoming AMTK 418, sold by Amtrak to Precision National Corporation in June 1981 and scrapped.
