| Description: |
Winter. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 3 January 1965. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5809, #5842-B, and #5890. All were built by GM-EMD. #5809 is an EP-22 built in January of 1951 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #5824-B is an EP-20 built in August of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. #5890 is an EP-22 built in April of 1950 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. This A-B-A set is pulling a 19-car westbound passenger train that's about to stop at the Altoona Passenger Station. Visible in the background are some of the PRR's Passenger Car Shops. The time is 2:11 P.M. |
