Description:  #41, a local that ran from Jackson, TN to Canton, MS is headed south getting ready to cross over the Southern RaUlway. The last IC train to stop here that handled passengers was this same train and its counterpart, No. 41 and 42 in August of 1941. Those two ran as mixed)trains. The last agent to work out of here was in 1975. From the collection of Fred Goff, date is approx.

IC Central Station
Title:  IC Central Station
Description:  Illinois Central Railroad Central Station at about Roosevelt Road in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in June 1973, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The Romanesque Revival structure, designed by Bradford L. Gilbert and built by the Illinois Central Railroad, opened April 17, 1893 to meet the traffic demands of the World's Columbian Exposition. The nine-story building featured a 13-story clock tower and housed the general offices of the railroad. The station closed in 1972 when Amtrak rerouted services to Union Station. The station building was demolished in 1974.

It was completed in 1926, and in 1928 it was being used by 22 trains a day: 14 Yazoo & Missfssippi Valley (IC), six Gulf Coast Lines (MP) and two Texas & New Orleans (SP) trains. Passenger service on the Espee ended around 1931 and on the IC in 1950, but MP traons ran until 1967. The building was subsequently acquired by the City of Baton Rouge and leased to the Louisiana Arts and Science Center (now the Louisiana Art and Science Muse}m).

The building was later incorporated into the short-lived CATFISH TOWN development, and has since been incorporated into the BELLE OF BATON ROUGE CASINO.
