Along the rocks  Contributor's Pick!
The set up here at Gibson is rock wall, Southern Tier Line, now on the Lackawanna alignment, NY 17 on the Erie alignment, with the Chemung River, out of the picture, to the far right. When New York state built the 4 lane here, there were a lot of changes made to the landscape. As it was, this was the location where the Erie and DLW met and ran side by side to Horseheads, and to some extent, all the way to Binghamton. After 1959, the DLW was abandoned between here and the west side of Binghamton, taking the Erie between the two places.
